| Local MP joins residents at site of new adventure playground
Dudley North MP Ian Austin will today join local councillors and residents to celebrate the government announcement that the campaign
for investment in better play areas and adventure playgrounds in Dudley has succeeded.
Education Secretary Ed Balls today announced that Dudley has been chosen as one of the Government’s ‘Play Pathfinders’ and is set to
receive £2 million to invest in an adventure playground on the Wren Nest and revamped play areas across the borough.
Austin threw his weight behind the council’s plans, meeting Mr Balls and the minister responsible for drawing up the plans, Kevin
Brennan, to set out the case for Dudley’s bid which will fund a new adventure playground on the Wrens Nest, as well as the creation or refurbishment of 28 play areas in public parks across the
borough.
Ian Austin MP said:
“I am delighted the government will be giving us an extra £2 million to improve play areas across Dudley and build a new adventure
play ground at the Wrens Nest.
“It’s a big boost for Dudley and great news for the Wrens Nest. This will help keep kids off the streets and out of trouble, and
encourage an active, healthy lifestyle.
"Let’s get it built quickly so I can ask Ed Balls to come and open the first new adventure play ground build under this scheme in the
country here in Dudley.”
