Local MP to start work at site of 30 new homes
Dudley North MP Ian Austin has broken the ground at the former site of the Washington Arms pub which will soon be 30 new homes for local families.
Austin recently announced the £1.5million investment to turn the derelict site into homes with Housing Minister John Healey.
The £1.5 million cash injection will see 30 new much needed mix tenure homes built on the site. The properties will include a mix of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and 3 bedroom houses.
Austin will be joined by local Councillor Alan Finch who has worked hard to get the site, which has been derelict for over two years, developed and put to use.
The scheme provides a major boost to local housing plans and the community around the site who have had to live with an unsightly derelict site for far too long.
Ian Austin MP said:
“I’ve worked really hard to make sure this investment can go ahead and we can provide new homes, jobs and skills for local people.”
“Residents were delighted to hear that we had managed to get this investment for much needed housing in the area and it is a great pleasure to get work underway on their behalf.”
“We are only able to invest this extra cash and provide new homes for local families because the government chose to increase public spending to keep the economy moving and save jobs in the construction trade.”
Councillor Alan Finch said:
“This is another great day for the people of the Wrens Nest. Getting this investment was a great achievement and meant a lot to local people, but getting work underway is a real sign of our progress.”
