Local MP urges council to make most of extra cash
Dudley North MP Ian Austin has today welcomed the announcement of over £200,000 extra government investment to help support small businesses in Dudley and bring new jobs to the area.
The funds are part of an extra £50 million being given to councils across the country to help them strengthen the recovery in their area. The government wants local councils to use this funding to help small businesses in hard hit areas who need extra support to get through tougher times so they can hit the ground running as economic growth picks up.
Dudley will receive £203,000 to be used to support economic growth and support small businesses.
Other councils across the country have used such funds to create apprenticeship schemes with local colleges and provided renovation grants to small businesses.
Ian Austin MP said:
“This funding is great news for hardworking small businesses here in Dudley but the council have to make the most of it and work with local businesses to give them what they need.”
“Other Councils have used this money to support local businesses and create schemes that will make sure that people have the skills needed to hit the ground running now the economy is recovering.”
“I want Dudley council to listen to local businesses and use their imagination when deciding how to spend this extra funding.”
