“I’ll fight against the bid to build on the greenbelt” promises Dudley MP
Dudley North MP Ian Austin is backing residents fighting plans to build on the Seven Cornfields.
Austin is urging Dudley, Wolverhampton and Staffordshire Councils to block plans to build on the precious greenbelt land between his constituency in Sedgley, Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire.
He’ll be walking around the site with resident this evening – Wednesday 18th, meeting at the Beacon Centre for the Blind at 5.00pm.
And he’ll be attending the public meeting tomorrow at 8.00pm at St Bart’s Church in Penn.
He is writing to every local resident in the area, to the local authorities involved urging them to oppose these plans and he’s asking to meet Barratt Homes.
Ian Austin said:
“I am completely opposed to these plans and promise I will do everything I can to support local residents to prevent this land being used for housing.
“We need more housing, but there are lots of brownfield sites in the Black Country which should be used. This is precious open land between Sedgley, Wolverhampton and Staffordshire – it is loved and used by lots of local people who are very worried about plans to build on it.”
