Austin backs Seven Stars motion

Dudley MP Ian Austin is backing a council motion to help protect the Seven Stars pub from closure.

The motion – due to be discussed by Dudley councillors next Monday (December 1st) - would force planners to consider the community value of pubs like the Seven Stars and ensure that every effort has been made to run the building as pub before allowing a change of use.

Austin has written to councillors urging all parties to give the motion their backing.

The MP has already worked with Seven Stars campaigners to get the pub listed as an asset of community value and arrange a meeting with the pub’s owners.

Ian Austin said:

“Pubs like the Seven Stars are at the heart of the local community in Dudley, and I don’t want it turned into a supermarket.

“This motion deserves the backing of all local councillors so we can recognise the community value of pubs like the Seven Stars.
