Austin brings Black Country Day to Parliament

Black Country MPs have been celebrating Black Country Day in Parliament.

Dudley MP Ian Austin took a Black Country Flag to Parliament so that he, Warley MP John Spellar and Wolverhampton North East MP Emma Reynolds could fly flag in front of Big Ben.

Austin has taken part in a number of events to mark Black Country Day across Dudley, including events in Sedgley, Gornal and the town centre.

Ian Austin said:

“I grew up in Dudley and no-one is prouder of the Black Country than me, so I thought it would be a good idea to fly our flag in Parliament.

“Dudley lit the spark that fired the industrial revolution, transforming our country’s economy, prosperity and global power, so it was the Black Country that put the great into Great Britain.

“Black Country Day is brilliant because it brings our whole community together in celebration and pride at the greatest place in the country.”
