Austin calls for action on parking chaos

Dudley MP Ian Austin has called on Dudley Council to take action over problems with parking on the Russells Hall estate.

Residents living on Abbotsford Drive have contacted Austin about the number of visitors to Russells Hall hospital that are using the road to avoid parking charges. Concerns have been raised that cars are creating noise and obstructions for local residents.

Austin has joined with local councillors Asif Ahmed and Mary Roberts to present a petition calling on the council to introduce parking controls. They want to see double yellow lines put in place to prevent cars causing obstructions to local residents.

Ian Austin MP said:

“Residents in Russells Hall have told me that they can’t get out of their drives, find a place to park and have to put up with noise because of the number of cars parking on their road.

“I know from visiting the street myself what residents are having to put up with, so I’m calling on the Council to put down double yellow lines. It’s time something was done to sort it out.”

Cllr Asif Ahmed said:

“Clearly the council needs to take action as the number of parked cars is a nuisance to local residents.”
