Dudley MP Ian Austin has called on the government to investigate mounting delays to DVLA applications.
Austin has heard from a number of Dudley residents who are facing lengthy delays to their applications and is seeking assurances that more drivers will not face delays.
And reports earlier in the year suggested drivers in Northern Ireland were facing severe delays to applications after the DVLA took on responsibility for their records.
He has now written to Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin urging him to investigate the delays and has tabled a number of Parliamentary Questions to find out the extent of problems.
Ian Austin said:
"I've heard from local people who haven't been able to drive for six months because for delays to their application.
“This isn't just a minor inconvenience – lots of people in Dudley rely on their car to earn a living or get to the shops.
“I'm speaking up for local people and I've told government to get to the bottom of this as a matter of urgency.”
