Austin celebrates brilliant new gym at Priory Park Boxing Club

Dudley MP Ian Austin will join the celebrations at the opening of Priory Park’s new gym.

Austin will attend the opening at 12:30-13:30 on Friday 24th June at Priory Park Boxing Club, on Priory Road DY1 4EY.

The club – which has produced national and international champions - has undergone a lengthy refurbishment and huge expansion, which has tripled the size of the gym.

With dozens of youngsters on its waiting list, Priory Park has been trying to expand for years but lacked the funds to do the work.

Austin has worked hard to support the expansion of the club, helping them to secure a £50,000 grant from Sports England which contributed to the works.

Ian Austin said:

“Paul Gough and his team do brilliant work with local youngsters, keeping them fit and off the streets, teaching them that with discipline, hard-work and dedication, the sky is the limit.

“Back in 2005 I promised the people of the Priory I would do all I could to help the boxing club. I’m really pleased that I was able to help the club secure a £50,000 towards this expansion and help them along the way.

“The extended gym will be a fantastic facility and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished building for myself at the official opening.”
