Austin celebrates Fairtrade Fortnight

Dudley MP Ian Austin will visit Sedgley businesses taking part in Fairtrade Fortnight from 11 am this Friday 28 February at Sedgley Co-op.

The Co-op, Greggs and the Penny Farthing Coffee Shop are all taking part in the event and will presented with certificates to show their support for the cause.

Fairtrade Fortnight runs from 24 February – 9 March this year. The campaign recognises local businesses that support struggling farmers in other countries by paying them a fair price for their products.

Austin is encouraging local people to attend the event which will run from 11am – 2pm, Friday 28 February.

Ian Austin said:

“I’ve backed Fairtrade for a long time, so it’s great to see local businesses getting celebrating their commitment to it.

“It just goes to show that Fairtrade doesn’t just tackle farmers living in poverty around the world, but it helps our economy and local businesses in the UK too.”
