Dudley MP Ian Austin will celebrate training company BCTG’s sponsorship of Dudley Town FC.
The MP will celebrate with the Chairman of Dudley Town FC Steve Austin and Dudley Mayor Steve Waltho at the Mayor’s Parlour, Dudley Council House, Priory Road, DY1 1HF at 1:30pm on Thursday 9 July.
The Mayor is due to be presented with an official BCTG sponsored shirt and will sign up as a Friend of Dudley Town.
Ian Austin is a long-time supporter of the club, has worked closely with BCTG in the past and brought the two together.
Dudley Town FC plays at the Dell and is run entirely by volunteers. Local people can support their local club by becoming a Friend of Dudley Town for just £1 a week, entitling members to free entry to all home league games and a quarterly newsletter.
Ian Austin said:
“Many other local football fans of my generation will remember Dudley Town hosting York City at the old County Ground (now the Castle Gate complex) in the first round proper of the FA Cup in 1977.It was a massive occasion for the Robins.
“In those days, the club was one league below what is now the conference, but we're now the biggest place in the country with no league football team.
“Steve Austin has done a great job rebuilding our local club, and I’m delighted that BCTG has stepped in to support them.”
Chris Luty, Director of BCTG said:
“We’re really pleased to support Dudley Town by sponsoring them for the next three years. We’ll be working with them to go from strength to strength.”
Stephen Austin, Chairman of Dudley Town FC said:
“It’s great to see the Mayor in a Dudley Town shirt and we’ve had incredible support from the community. BCTG’s support will help us take things to the next level this season.”
