Dudley MP Ian Austin is calling on Dudley residents to learn more about opportunities to volunteer in Volunteers’ Week.
Volunteers’ Week runs from 1 – 7 June, and here in Dudley a ‘Volunteer Speedmatching Event’ is being held from 11am-3pm on Saturday 7 June at The Storehouse, Albion Street, Brierley Hill, DY5 3EE to match potential volunteers to local groups.
Austin is also attending events to celebrate the work of volunteers at the Churches Housing Association Foyer Project and at St. Thomas’s Community Network.
Volunteers’ Week was launched in 1984 to mark the contribution that millions of volunteers make to charities and other organisations. Hundreds of events will be taking place as charities, schools, hospitals and others use Volunteers’ Week as a time to thank their volunteers.
Ian Austin said:
“There are more than 116 voluntary organisations in my constituency alone, and many more across the Dudley Borough.
“Volunteers’ Week is a great opportunity to celebrate great local organisations like the Black Country Food Bank and the St. Thomas’s Network and the brilliant volunteers they rely on, as well as encouraging new volunteers to get involved.”
