Petition to be presented to the Council signed by residents.
Dudley North MP Ian Austin is calling on the Council and the police to take action to improve safety on a Gornal road after residents appealed for action to be taken on speeding cars.
Austin wrote to all local residents in Wood Road and the surrounding area with a road safety survey after a fatal collision killed a local woman in September.
The survey highlighted that many residents were worried about their safety as speeding vehicles continue to use the road as a rat-run.
Austin and local campaigners will be handing in a petition signed by hundreds of local residents to Dudley Council House, Priory Road, DY1 1HF on Friday 24th November at 2pm.
Ian Austin said:
“After the tragic fatal accident on Wood Road many people got in touch asking for action to tackle speeding cars.
“Hundreds of residents have signed a petition and sent back my survey demanding measures to prevent anything like this ever happening again.
“Local residents and I will be presenting the petition and pushing the Council and the police to take action”
Local campaigner Julie Pitt said:
“For myself and other residents speeding cars is a constant worry in this area. There have been far too many near misses which meant that an accident was sadly inevitable.
“We want the Council and the police to take our concerns seriously so that another terrible accident will not happen again”
