Austin elected to Home Affairs Committee

Dudley MP Ian Austin has been elected by the House of Commons to serve on the Home Affairs Select Committee.

The Home Affairs Committee scrutinises the work of the Home Office and its Ministers, covering issues such as policing, crime, immigration and border controls.

Ian Austin MP said:

“Issues like immigration and crime are really important to people in Dudley and the Black Country, so I’m pleased to be able to speak out on these issues on their behalf.

“I want to see clear rules for the immigration system and they need to be properly enforced, and we need a tough no-nonsense approach to tackle crime and anti-scial behaviour which can make people’s lives a misery.

“I’ll be using my position on the committee to apply straightforward Black Country common sense to issues like these.”
