Dudley MP Ian Austin has welcomed a £100m deal between Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) and National Express to produce 600 buses in the UK over the next 5 years. Some of the buses will be used on routes here in Dudley.
Austin met National Express bosses in Dudley to help unveil the new deal.
2000 British jobs have been safeguarded by this deal and a vast amount of knowledge and expertise will be kept here in the UK. Some parts for the buses will even be made in the West Midlands.
The deal will also ensure that there are improvements to services with customers enjoying new and improved buses.
Ian Austin said:
“This news is fantastic. This is what a great British company should be doing. Supporting British manufacturing, securing jobs and signing deals that give British companies security is vital to our economic growth. I urge other companies to follow National Express West Midlands’ lead.”
