Austin joins group to boost Dudley town centre

Dudley MP Ian Austin has joined a Parliamentary group focused on boosting town centres.

The All Party Parliamentary Group for Urban Development brings together MPs from all parties to push for policies that will help regenerate town centres across the country.

Austin will use the group to speak up for policies that will help regenerate Dudley town centre and bring new investment to the high street.

Ian Austin said:

“I grew up in Dudley and had my first job in the High Street. Like anyone else from here, I want to see new ideas to bring new investment, trade and jobs to the town.

“We all know the town’s had some real knocks. Out-of-town shopping, the recession and the loss of the university campus have all had an impact.

“I’ll be using this group to push for new ideas to help the town centre. I want measures to bring new investment to the high street and open up Dudley Castle to concerts and plays to bring new visitors to Dudley.”
