AUSTIN JOINS RESIDENTS TO PRESENT PETITION DEMANDING PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN GORNAL

Road safety campaigners from Bull Street in Gornal presented a petition today to Dudley Council calling for parking restrictions.

They were joined by Dudley North MP Ian Austin to present the petition at 2.00pm on Friday 25th October outside Dudley Council House, Priory Road, Dudley.

Residents have made several requests for double yellow lines over the years but have stepped up their campaign after the road has become more dangerous with busses, cars and even lorries forced on to the pavement to avoid on-coming traffic. Residents also complain that getting on and off their drives has become more dangerous.

Bull Street resident Steve Marr, who organised the petition said:

“We have been campaigning for road safety improvements for years and want the council to implement double yellow lines to make walking and driving along Bull Street safer. The situation is getting worse, not better, and just getting off our drives can be difficult and dangerous.”

Ian Austin MP said:

“I have had lots of complaints about the situation in Bull Street over the years and have seen the problems there myself.

“Lots of families and children walk along Bull Street to the shops at one end and to the doctor’s surgery so I’m supporting the residents and their campaign to improve safety for people who live in Bull Street, for pedestrians and for drivers too.”
