Austin tackles trucks and lorries using Oakham Road

Dudley MP Ian Austin is taking action to tackle large lorries and coaches thundering along Oakham Road in Dudley.

Austin took action after constituents complained about the noise and speed of trucks and coaches using Oakham Road to avoid traffic at Burnt Tree, Birmingham Road (A461) and the Birmingham New Road (A4123) to avoid roadworks in the town centre and the junction at Burnt Tree.

He’s calling on transport companies to move back on to main roads now that roadworks at Burnt Tree are over.

Austin has written to local companies urging them to move back onto main roads to ease disruption to local residents.

And he’s asking Dudley Council to implement measures to reduce large vehicles using the road.

Ian Austin MP said:

"All of us who live in the area know the roadworks dragged on, but local people are fed up with trucks and lorries thundering through residential roads in Oakham.

“I’m on their side and I want them to avoid taking shortcuts that cause a nuisance for people in Dudley.”
