Dudley MP Ian Austin will unveil a new £1.3 million all-weather pitch at Dudley College this Friday.
Austin will open the new pitch at Dudley College’s campus on Priory Road at 1pm this Friday 2nd December.
The new pitch has been made possible thanks to a £875,000 grant from the Premier League and the FA Facilities Fund which helps develop new grassroots football facilities.
The new facility will benefit the College’s Team Dudley players and be available for wider community use too.
Wrens Nest FC and The Albion Foundation have also drawn up a plan for the facility that will see the number of clubs using the site grow from 4 to 38 in just under a five year period.
Ian Austin said:
“I think I spent pretty much every Sunday afternoon as a teenager playing football with my mates on the Priory Road pitches and I wish we’d had fantastic facilities like these in those days!
“It’s brilliant to hear that so many local people are already using the new pitch and changing rooms every day. These new all-weather pitches help keep youngsters fit and healthy, off the streets and out of trouble so I want to thank Dudley College for their hard work and the Premier League and the FA Facilities Fund for the financial support for this great addition to the town and the Dudley Learning Quarter. I hope it will encourage more people of all ages to put their boots on and get out here and enjoy the beautiful game.”
