Dudley MP Ian Austin met with Jesson’s Primary School Teacher Rory Elrick in Parliament today as he takes part in the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme.
This three day training programme aims to give teachers the skills to develop their students' understanding of Parliament and democracy.
Rory will have the opportunity to question the House of Commons Speaker and the Lord Speaker, and hear from parliamentarians of all parties about their work.
Ian Austin said:
“I have always said that education and skills are my number one priority for giving kids in Dudley the best start in life.
“It was great to meet Rory in Parliament today and talk about Jesson’s Primary, I think it is a really valuable training event which will benefit his students back in Dudley.
“Teaching young people about Parliament and democracy is so important for engaging kids about how laws are made and encouraging them to get involved in politics in the future.”
