Dudley MP Ian Austin has welcomed the launch of Dudley College’s new Advance II construction centre.
Dudley College Principal Lowell Williams and Nick Boles MP, Minister of State for Skills, will start work at Dudley Advance, Priory Road, Dudley DY1 4AD with the new centre’s official ground breaking ceremony at 11:50am on Thursday 3rd March.
The new £11 million centre is due to open in Spring 2017 and will be the first college of its kind specialising in the latest construction techniques, technology and off-site fabrication.
Austin worked closely with Dudley College and local manufacturers to support the construction of the new centre, meeting with Ministers to build support for the plans.
Ian Austin said:
“I’ve worked hard to support Lowell Williams and his brilliant work at Dudley College and I’m really excited about its latest plans will be the most up-to-date centre for advanced building technologies in the country.
“This is exactly what I mean when I say we need to make education and skills our number one priority: Lowell’s team haven’t just transformed the town centre with a fantastic new campus and brought thousands of students to Dudley, but are strengthening our economy because the only way we’ll attract new investment and new jobs to replace the ones we’ve lost is by having the skills new industries need.”
