Dudley MP Ian Austin has given his backing to Dormston School’s first ever Roll of Honour event.
The Roll of Honour presentation event will be taking place from 12pm on Monday 12th October at Dormston School, Mill Bank, Sedgley, West Midlands DY3 1SN.
At the event just four pupils from the school’s Year 11 class will have their names engraved on the schools new ‘Roll of Honour’ board in recognition of their outstanding achievement and commitment to learning.
Dormston School in Sedgley has come out of special measures within one year under new Headteacher Mr Ben Stitchman, and is described by Ofsted as making “rapid improvements”.
Austin has been a strong supporter of the school, opening the school’s new art studio and sports courts last year and pushing to make education the number one priority across Dudley.
Ian Austin said:
“We need to make education and skills our number one priority in Dudley because it’s the only way that we will attract new investment and jobs to the area.
“I think it’s brilliant that Dormston is recognising pupils who have made education their own priority in this way.
“Dormston, Ellowes Hall and Priory School show that our youngsters are capable of doing just as well as any in the country, so we have to get behind heads and teachers working hard to make improvements.”
