Dudley MP Ian Austin is supporting the Alzheimer’s Society campaign for better dementia care.
Improving social care is vital to providing dignity in older age but the social care sector is in crisis.
It faces a funding shortfall of £3.6 billion by 2025 and Age UK say 1.4 million people have unmet care needs.
The lack of funding leaves vulnerable elderly and disabled people at risk.
Austin has written to the Government urging them to meet the costs of dementia care.
Ian Austin said:
“I know how distressing dementia can be for people affected by it and their families.“
“That’s why we must put equal emphasis on the care provided to people with dementia and the support provided to their families and carers.”
