Dudley MP Ian Austin wants to see more home aids and adaptations provided to people with Arthritis.
Over half of the 17.8 million people in the UK with arthritis and related conditions live with pain every single day.
The impact is huge as the condition slowly intrudes on everyday life – affecting someone’s ability to work, care for their family and live independently.
Arthritis and related conditions are the biggest cause of pain and disability in the UK, resulting in over 30 million working days lost every year.
For people with arthritis and related conditions, aids and adaptations can be life changing, helping them to remain independent and reducing the need for more expensive support services.
Ian Austin said:
“Aids and adaptations in the home can help people with arthritis to maintain their quality of life and remain independent for longer, reducing the need for more expensive care services.
“However, research from Versus Arthritis shows that many people with arthritis aren’t benefitting from this help.
“That’s why I’m urging the Government to ensure that people with Arthritis get the aids and support they need to keep independent.”
