Dudley MP to help judge West Midlands Beer of the Year

Dudley MP Ian Austin will help pick the West Midlands Beer of the Year this Thursday at the Dudley Winter Ales Fayre.

Austin has been taking part in local beer festivals for over 25 years, with this year’s competition taking place at Dudley Town Hall.

Last year’s award was picked up by Kinver Brewery for its 7.5% winter warmer Over the Edge. This year sees entries from local brewers including Holden’s, Black Country Ales, Sarah Hughes from Sedgley and Fownes from Upper Gornal.

Austin is currently campaigning to save the Seven Stars pub in Sedgley, and received an award earlier this year for his championing of local pubs and brewers.

Dudley Winter Ales Fayre is taking place at Dudley Town Hall on Thursday 27th November 5.30pm - 11pm, on Friday 28th November 12noon - 11pm and on Saturday 29th November 12noon - 11pm.

Ian Austin MP said:

“The Black Country is home to some of the best brewers in Britain like Holden’s and Fownes so I’m really looking forward to this.

“I do everything I can to support our local pubs and brewers, and I’ve been going to local beer festivals for over 25 years back when they were held at the Inhedge and in the Castle.”
