German students join local school to visit Parliament

A group of German students studying English have joined youngsters from High Arcal School for a visit to Parliament.

The visit has been organised by Dudley MP Ian Austin in conjunction with the Academy of English based in Oldenburg, Germany and High Arcal School.

Students from the Academy of English are visiting Dudley as part of a programme of events to mark the Centenary of the First World War.

The group is visiting Parliament and watching a debate in the House of Commons on Thursday 6 November.

Ian Austin said:

“Dr. John Goodyear from the Academy of English and teachers at High Arcal have done a brilliant job in organising this exchange.

“Not only is it a great opportunity for students from both countries to learn about each other’s cultures, but it’s a fitting way to mark the Centenary of the First World War too.

“I’m really pleased I could help by organising a visit to Parliament so the students can learn more about British history.”
