Dudley MP Ian Austin will visit Royal Mail's Dudley delivery office to thank staff for their efforts in delivering Christmas mail.
Austin is visiting the delivery office on Trinity Road in the town centre at 8:30am on Friday 19 December.
The MP will tour the delivery office to see how Dudley’s posties deal with festive mail and will chat to the hardworking staff who ensure a first class Christmas for Dudley residents.
Mr Austin will make an early start in order to meet the office’s manager and the postmen and women who are responsible for ensuring that Dudley’s massive Christmas mailbag is delivered to over 42,000 addresses at Royal Mail’s busiest time of year.
The visit will be just in time to post any cards and presents for delivery before Christmas, with the last recommended posting date on Saturday 20th December for First Class mail.
Ian Austin said:
“I helped deliver the Christmas Post at the Dudley Sorting Office when I was a student so I know how hard local staff work over Christmas.
“It’s been a tough year for Royal Mail with the government making a botched sell off and failing to defend the universal service guarantee.
“I’m looking forward to being able to thank staff personally for everything they are doing for people in Dudley.”
