Local MP visits growing tech supplier

Dudley MP Ian Austin is visiting the renovated premises of successful local business Hart Materials.

Hart Materials supplies raw materials to companies involved in high-tech manufacturing. The Wombourne-based supplier was founded by Sedgley businessman Dr. Tony Hart in 1981, and continued growth has recently seen it move to a larger site on Planks Lane, Wombourne where it is now in the final stages of developing its new Technology Centre.

Austin has praised the business for generating almost 50 per cent of its sales outside the UK, and for its contribution to the growth of high-technology processes that benefit manufacturing industry throughout the UK.

Austin will be visiting Hart Materials’ renovated premises on Planks Lane, Wombourne at 11:30am on Friday 10 October.

Ian Austin said:

“I’m pleased to see Hart Materials is going from strength to strength led by Dr. Tony Hart who grew up and was educated locally, in Wolverhampton, graduating in 1964 from the University of Aston Birmingham.

“Local businesses like Hart Materials are forging a technology-based revolution that will ultimately bring new, sustainable jobs to Dudley.

“I want to support that growth by making education our number one priority, training the next generation to have the skills that new industries need.”
