MP organises Dudley EU referendum debate

Dudley MP Ian Austin has organised an EU referendum debate so local residents can hear arguments from both sides before voting.

The Dudley EU Referendum Debate will be taking place from 7-8:30pm on Friday 17th June at High Arcal School, High Arcal Drive, Sedgley DY3 1BP.

The debate will feature Wolverhampton South East MP Pat McFadden explaining why he thinks Britain should remain in the European Union and Dudley South MP Mike Wood setting out the case to leave.

Local residents can reserve seats by visiting http://www.ianaustin.co.uk/referendum_debate, emailing ian.austin.mp@parliament.uk or by calling 01384 342 504.

Austin has already invited thousands of local residents that have taken part in surveys and community meetings to discuss the EU, and massive demand for places has seen the debate move to a larger venue that can hold up to 300 people.

Ian Austin said:

"I’ve always said that it’s my job to go to Parliament and speak up for people in Dudley, whether politicians in London like it or not. That’s why I have always supported calls for an EU referendum.

"It’s a massive decision, but chatting to people in Dudley these past few weeks I've been struck by how frustrated people are with the lack of proper debate and clear answers. Local people tell me they need to hear all the facts and weigh up the arguments before making up their minds.

"That’s why I’m organising Dudley’s EU referendum debate with local MPs Pat McFadden and Mike Wood, so local people can hear both sides of the argument in a serious, balanced debate."
