MP's meet to discuss plans for Commonwealth Games

West Midlands MPs will meet the organisers of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Parliament tomorrow.

The meeting will hear about progress o the organisation of the games and discuss how they can benefit the wider West Midlands.

The meeting has been organised by Dudley North MP Ian Austin, the co-chair of the cross-party Parliamentary Group for the West Midlands. The group is meeting on Tuesday 12th February to hear from representative of the 2022 Commonwealth Games and Sport England on details of the games, which will see 17 sports take place over 11 days of competition at venues in Birmingham and in some venues across the West Midlands.

Ian Austin Said:

“The Commonwealth Games in 2022 will be a fantastic opportunity for all areas of the West Midlands to benefit from increased tourism and investment.

“I am looking forward to seeing how the games are progressing, and asking the organisers how MP’s in the region can support the games and make the most of this opportunity.

“I want to make sure that we make the most of the games being here and create a long lasting legacy for sport in our region.”
