Dudley MP Ian Austin is consulting residents over plans to turn a Gornal pub in to a supermarket.

The Fiddlers Arms on Straits Road, Gornal is set to become a Co-op store as plans to demolish the current building are been submitted to the Council.

Austin has written to residents in the surrounding area to ask them what they think of the plans for the current pub and to see whether they are supported or not.

Ian Austin said:

“Local pubs are important to the community, many residents have already been in touch to voice their concerns about this.

“I’m worried about the impact on traffic, increased parking and the effect it could have on trade in Gornal town centre.

“I’ll be looking at all the survey returns to see if residents support the plans and pass on any concerns to the Council.”
