Russells Hall residents celebrate parking victory

Local residents have welcomed new measures to tackle problems with parking on the Russells Hall estate.

Residents living on Abbotsford Drive contacted Austin about the number of visitors to Russells Hall hospital that are using the road to avoid parking charges, creating noise and obstructions.

Austin joined with local councillors Asif Ahmed and Mary Roberts to present a petition on the issue, and Dudley Council Cabinet Member for Transport Khurshid Ahmed has now arranged to put down yellow lines.

Ian Austin MP said:

“Residents in Russells Hall told me that they couldn’t get out of their drives or find a place to park and had to put up with noise because of the number of cars parking on their road.

“I know from visiting the street myself what residents were having to put up with, so I’m delighted that the Council have put down double yellow lines to tackle these problems.

“This shows what can be achieved when residents, their councillors and their MP all work together.”

Cllr Khurshid Ahmed said:

“The number of parked cars has been a real nuisance for local residents, so I’m really pleased we’ve been able to help.”
