Six month reprieve for Seven Stars pub

Campaigners fighting to save the Seven Stars pub in Sedgley have won a bid to protect it for six months.

After pressure from campaigners and Dudley MP Ian Austin Dudley Council has agreed to list the pub as an ‘Asset of Community Value’, meaning the pub cannot be changed or demolished in the next six months.

Campaigners are working to protect the local pub after Morrisons announced a desire to buy the pub and turn it into a supermarket.

Ian Austin MP is now working to arrange a meeting between Marston’s, Morrisons and local campaigners to discuss the future of the pub.

Local residents can sign campaigners’ petition to save the pub here.

Ian Austin said:

“Pubs like the Seven Stars are at the heart of the local community in Dudley, and I don’t want it turned into a supermarket.

“I’m really pleased that Dudley Council has recognised the pub’s community value and protected it for six months.

“Now I want Marston’s and Morrisons to get round the table to campaigners and secure a future for the pub.
